Engineering the Future
Powered by Detroit Youth
Through YouthTank’s Engineering Practicum, innovative partnerships with industry leaders and community organizations provide students with unparalleled learning experiences and mentorship opportunities in high demand careers.

This 3D Mobility HUB Model reimagines a bus stop in a neighborhood using AI and ML to generate real-time route information and a humancentric kiosk to enhance convenience and accessibility.

Our high school interns emerge with design and technological tools and experience in real-world collaboration in the Mobility sector.

JOE LOUIS GREENWAY PARTNERSHIP

The Joe Louis Greenway is a groundbreaking mobility and public space initiative transforming Detroit through a 27.5-mile network of connected greenways, linking neighborhoods to parks, jobs, schools, and economic opportunity across the city and region. Designed to prioritize equitable access, active transportation, and community-led development, the Greenway reimagines how residents move, gather, and connect—advancing a more inclusive and sustainable future for urban mobility.

NAVIGATING
THE GREENWAY

Young interns partner with Joe Louis Greenway to develop an interactive map app for the Greenway that easily integrates with technology to be used by a variety of JLG visitors to help navigate their way to and along the Greenway, locate JLG features and essential amenities, and identify places of interest.
SHOWCASING THE GREENWAY

A separate team of 10 interns brings together media production students and their coach from the local Detroit School for The Arts. Together with YouthTank interns, they are shooting a teaser video about the remarkable stewardship of public spaces in the city of Detroit, like the Joe Louis Greenway.
Customer Discovery Phase Fall 2025

JLG Team presented their progress developing Greenway visitor personas and needs, as YouthTank's Engineering Practicum begins building the web application.

Interns interview interview visitors at the Joe Louis Greenway this Fall at JLGP's Pink-o-ween event.
